I like to lube all 4 sides of the switch stem (the rails and the front/back plates), NOT including the legs on tactile switches,
unless otherwise requested by the customer. If so, I make sure to apply a very thin layer so that the travel of the switch isn't
negatively affected. I'll lube the rails of the bottom housing as well. When lubing in general, I like to use both flat sides of
a brush the same amount of times to coat the switch parts equally, making sure the same amount of lube is on the brush every time
, and reapplying lube to the brush between switch parts.
Let me know if you have a preferred method of lubing you'd rather me use instead. I'm sure I can accommodate you. :)
A unique switch mod that not many are offering outright. Bearing-ball-modding can eliminate a significant amount of post-travel in
switches after their actuation point, as well as provide a unique sound signature, completely changing the stock sound and feel of
your switches. As not all switches are built with the same tolerances and specifications, I'm offering balls in several sizes to
ensure the quality of the mod remains the same. Bearing-ball-modded switches are certainly louder than stock ones, but I've also noticed
that bigger balls (lol) produce a higher pitch. For most switches, this is a subtle difference, as most switches can only fit 1.2 or 1.3
millimeter balls. Switches with shorter stems may be able to fit 1.5mm or greater.
I'll be sure to let you know about any compatibility issues with your switches and this mod if any arise. As my list of modded switches
grows, I'll have more of this information on-hand, and won't have to test each and every one before confirming with you.
Pretty straightforward; I'll swap the stems in your switches with another kind if you want. Of course, I'll make sure they work before
sending them back, and let you know if they don't. I'm offering 415keys' UHMWPE stems, and JWK P3 stems found on prevailkeyco.com, OR you
can send me your own stems along with your switches. I'll also order any stems that you can find separated from their switches if you request.
I'll swap the springs in your switches with any spring that'll fit, and that's most of them. Slow springs, loooong springs, heavy springs,
multistage, progressive, you name it. I'll even lube them for free! I find that Super Lube 51004 does a good job when bag lubing springs,
or even when submerging and flicking off the excess. This gets rid of any crunching or pinging that might have existed before. Replacement
springs can be provided by you, or I'll order them by your request.
And if you just want your stock springs lubed, I can do that free of charge as well. :)
I have a few different kinds of films in-stock. They should provide a different sound signature when placed in your switches, as well as
reduce switch housing wobble in switches with not-so-tight tolerances. They are:
- MDI, which are thick (0.3mm) MDI foam films that can make your switches sound deeper.
- Foam, which also provide a deeper sound, but should be compatible with more switches, at a thickness of 0.2mm.
- PC, a thinner (0.13mm) film made of 100% polycarbonate and should make your switches higher-pitched.
Films can also be provided by you, or ordered at your request.
I currently charge $0.60 per switch for lubing, plus the additional cost of the lube used in your switches. For lubing 110 switches with
Krytox 205g0 for example, this would come out to $66 + $3.43 = $69.43, or about $0.63 per switch. My costs decrease when I can buy in bulk,
find cheaper shipping, and have more supplies in-stock. This means I can keep prices down, and you will be paying less. :)
For additionally modded switches will increase based on the amount of extra time it takes to mod the switches, but I will keep this consistent
across customers' orders. Some example prices are as follows:
- 90 switches modded with 1.2mm balls and lubed with Tribosys 3204.
